McFlurry – McDonalds Taste of America – 2012

Original Chocolate Fudge Brownie McFlurry 2012

Original Chocolate Fudge Brownie McFlurry 2012

So Taste Of America is ending and we will soon see the next promotion that McDonalds will be giving us.

I’ve given the fudge brownie mcflurry a few tries now and thought it was time that I expressed my views.

Being a renowned lover of everything fudge brownie it had a lot to live up to, especially as it is usually Oreo mcflurry at this time of year (which is my 2nd favorite mcflurry behind the amazing creme egg).

The flurry is relatively simple really, just ice cream, brownie and chocolate fudge sauce. Despite this it is very nice I thought.

The brownies have a very nice texture and are the right balance between crunchy and soft. And with an extra helping of chocolate fudge sauce this is a very nice after meal treat.

It’s gone to joint 2nd favorite mcflurry with Oreo now and is getting and highly rated 8/10 come back next year please!

The Arizona Nacho Grande Burger – Taste of America – Week Three

So we’re half way through Taste of America:

Burger number three is the Arizona Nacho Grand:

  • Oval 100% beef patty
  • Pepperoni Slices
  • Nacho-style (cheese) sauce
  • Crunchy Nacho Chips
  • Shredded lettuce (No Onions)
  • Cheese slices
  • Served in a sesame topped bun (ours actually came with the chilli-chive bun)

This is the first itme that Nachos have appeared in one of the Taste of America (UK) burgers and they add a slight corny flavour and a very interesting texture, crunchy like the lettuce but in a less crisp way. Along with the cheese, gooey cheese sauce and salty pepperoni make this a great variety of textures and of flavours. This has some spiciness but not as spicy as than last weeks Chicago Supreme.

After a lot of deliberation we decided that this was lightly better than last weeks and thus the best so far in 2012.

7/10 (8/10 with chilli-chive bun)

TasteTimeWarp – Taste of America 2007

We’re halfway through Taste of America 2012, here a look back at the burgers from the first UK Taste of America in 2007 – remember the  cheese-topped buns?

The Chicago Supreme Burger – Taste of America – Week Two

Last week we kicked off Taste of America with a reasonable start in the form of the Texas BBQ Burger.

The second burger is the Chicago Supreme:

  • Oval 100% beef patty
  • Bacon
  • Spicy Tomato Salsa
  • Cool Mayo
  • Crispy onions
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Cheese slices
  • Served in a chilli, chive & sesame topped bun

This starts off slow but the spicyness starts to grow and the salsa and mayo gives the burger a coolness but also some spicy heat. The salsa works really well with the bun and actually once you’ve finished eating this you are left with some heat. This has set the standard to beat for 2012 and was rather tasty.

The Texas BBQ Burger – Taste of America – Week One

So Taste of America is back, each week in the month of May there will be a different “guest” burger inspired by some geographical location in the USA. These are accompanied by cross-cut “waffle” chips a Fudge Brownie McFlurry and a Starburst Milkshake.

First up to bat is the Texas BBQ Burger:

  • Oval 100% beef patty
  • Bacon
  • Sticky BBQ sauce
  • Crispy onions
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Cheese slices
  • Served in a sesame topped bun

What does it taste like?

The first thing that’s noticeable is that the burger is a bit too big for the bun and so it can be a bit messy to eat.

There is a good texture with the crunchy inion and lettuce soft cheese and saucy BBQ.

There’s nothing that special about the burger or cheese but they are still enjoyable.

The BBQ sauce is a nice addition and goes well with the salty, smoky bacon.

Overall this is not a bad start  to the range but I think that the best is yet to come.
